In 2024, the Admiralty Needle turns 30 years old!
The Age of Admiralty Needle, the Fashion Planet, has brought up more than one generation of famous and renowned designers in Russia and abroad.
Remembering the past decades, we would like to plunge into that era a little and note that today nostalgia is the main marketing trend of 2024.
In difficult times, it is quite natural for us to remember how good it used to be when the TV series Friends and Santa Barbara were on TV, times when the grass was greener. We tend to appreciate the old days — there is something irresistible in their familiarity and predictability. The 90s brought grunge fashion, boy bands and soap operas on television. Every decade leaves its traces in culture and fashion. What will our decade leave? There is a feeling that today we live in a time in which everything is mixed: local with global, modern with historical, traditional with digital. Nostalgia in these processes becomes even more important, reducing the gap between the past and the present.
In an era of total diversity, nostalgia only expands fashion horizons and provides inspiration for creating new conceptual collections in the 21st century.
The idea that a product might be outdated is no longer relevant. Images from the past sometimes come into fashion without any conscious involvement. Nostalgia is alive and well, weaving into the fabric of modern culture and providing designers with a powerful tool to connect with the audience. Remembering the past gives you a sense of security.
Famous designers play on traditions and memories — this is how brands show their involvement in generational, cultural or historical experiences close to the audience, increasing their loyalty. Today we are able to activate nostalgia even among the younger generation. It is understandable why a person whose childhood was in the 90s feels nostalgic about the Santa Barbara screensaver or Sega cassettes. At the same time, we can feel longing even for those times in which we have never lived. That is why the past extends to the gen-z, who are used to being inspired by the fashion trends of the past decades.
Designers! Keep an emotional connection with the fashion of the past decades, draw inspiration and your historical roots from it, fill future collections with cultural code. Authenticity and integrity will give you the opportunity to be a bright and original artist with your own identity!
In our anniversary year, we are waiting for the discovery of new names in the sky of the Admiralty Needle!
During the festival week, from October 14 to 17, 2024, spectacular shows, exhibitions, group discussions, and a showroom of collections of finalists of the Admiralty Needle International Fashion, Art and Design Festival will be held.
Participation in the contest will help great designers find their niche in the modern fashion industry and win the main prize of 500,000 rubles!
